    • I guess it all depends on personal preference. As DOTPOTA is positioning itself as science fiction rather than fantasy, I enjoy the fiction bit more if the science bit has some substance behind it. The more way-out the sci-fi, the more the science bit only needs to sound plausible, even if it is techno-babble. But DOTPOTA isn’t some fantastical space opera after all. Of course it would all fall apart, plausible or not, if it weren’t well made in all other respects.

      Irrespective of all that, the article is just plain interesting, and this is a science blog after all!

      • Yeah, the article is interesting.

        I think a lot of SF claims to be plausible but is in reality operating along similar lines as fantasy (any of the far future space opera sort for example, or, what do we do if the Earth has a mini-black hole in it scenarios).
